The Plus series of Dutch Wind Ensemble is a success. In it the finest masterpieces are scrutinized. The artistic director and oboist Bart Schneemann tells the story behind the notes to life on the basis of the projected script. In this program you will learn the eighteen gems in Schumann Davidsbündlertänze from within. This poetic piano cycle wrote the composer as a declaration of love to his beloved Clara. You will hear a colorful arrangement for winds.
The Davidsbündlertänze is one of Schumann's most personal compositions. Schumann was not only active as a composer, but also positioned itself as one of the most influential music critics of his time. He published essays under the pseudonyms Florestan and Eusebius. Two characters that he presented as key figures in a fictional society: the Davidsbündler, which went to war against the flattening in the art. As Florestan, an angry young man, Schumann was music that did not like him mercilessly smash. If the dreamy Eusebius wrote nuanced and poetic.
As a composer Schumann took multiple personalities. It gave him in 1837 to write the creative inspiration with his Davidsbündlertänze one of the most multifaceted piano works from Romanticism to his name.
