At the Royal Conservatory students sing one year in the first year choir: excellent training of hearing and of basic skills in teamwork.
In 1887, Antonin Dvo?ák composed the Mass in D. 86 for soloists, mixed choir and organ. The client was Josef Hlávka, founder and patron of the Czech Academy of Arts and Sciences, who was looking for a piece for the dedication of the Church of Lužany. It is a small church, hence the occupation only organ.
In September 1887 Mass in Lužany was first performed under the direction of Dvo?ák himself. In March 1893, the orchestral version sounded at London's Crystal Palace, followed by numerous performances throughout Europe and -above all- in the United States. The Freshmen Choir brings a special arrangement of Dvo?ák's Mass in D. 86, written for wind quintet, choir and soloists Joachim Linckelmann.
