An exciting edition experienced the Liszt Competition in 2014. The finalists were really evenly matched. We've therefore but all three invited. The 'passionate winner' Mariam Bastashvilli says "a personal story with a lot of poetry." Peter Klimo, good for silver, plays extremely passionate and "decisively". The Dutch pianist Mengjie Han - won bronze and the audience - makes music 'great effect, virtuosic and exciting (NRC).
Liszt is of course the main composer on the program. You listen to masterpieces like the stormy second ballad and upbeat Sixth Hungarian Rhapsody. That Liszt composers after him was an inexhaustible source of inspiration, you listen to Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin and three Preludes by Gershwin.
