Winner of the Tony Triple Crown for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book, the hilarious Avenue Q tells the timeless story of a recent college graduate trying to find his way in the world. Set in New York City all the way out on Avenue Q (he couldnt afford anything better), we are introduced to fresh-faced Princeton as he struggles to find his purpose: meeting friends, finding love, losing love, and finding it again, along the way. Inspired by the beloved childrens show Sesame Street, Avenue Q creates a puppet-filled world that is a little more reflective of the realities that we face when we learn that real life isnt as simple as we dreamed it might be but perhaps, suggests Avenue Q, life is all the more colorful and worthwhile for it.Note: despite featuring puppets, Avenue Q is for mature audiences, featuring adult topics, offensive language, and an onstage portrayal of puppet sex.Het Amsterdams Theaterhuis Marius van Bouwdijk Bastiaansestraat 54, 1054 SP AmsterdamJUNE 24 JULY 10

Cast and Creative team for Avenue Q at Het Amsterdams Theaterhuis

Cast

Camille Gribbons

Kate Monster
Originally from the US, Camille is a UX designer during the day and a performer and active participant in the English musical theater scene outside of work hours. In the past couple years, she has worked with Happily Ever After Productions on multiple shows, including Working (Millworker / ensemble), Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey), and Ordinary Days (Deb). This is Camille's second time playing Kate Monster and she is very excited to be performing Avenue Q again.

Ed Simmons

Princeton
This is both Ed’s first show with HEAP, and his first since moving to the Netherlands in 2020. He first dabbled in musical theatre while at University, playing Curly in Oklahoma!, and has since enjoyed several roles including Rum Tum Tugger (Cats), Tennessee (Yank!), and Mingo (Crazy For You). Despite being a reclusive app developer by trade, Ed enjoys nothing more than singing and performing on stage. He’s incredibly grateful to have been part of such a brilliant show, and to have met such a lovely cast.

Arvid van Kasteel

Nicky
Arvid plays Nicky, the freeloading roommate. Past credits include: 'Jesus Christ Superstar' (as Jesus, Judas and Annas), 'Children of Eden' (as Adam and Japheth), 'Little Shop of Horrors' (director/producer and voicing Audrey II), 'Oliver!' (Mr. Bumble), 'Cabaret' (Herr Schultz), 'Lang & Gelukkig' (Wolf & Tom Thumb), 'Sweeney Todd' (Judge Turpin), 'Spamalot' (Sir Robin) and 'RENT' (Roger). He translated and directed 'Bat Boy: The Musical'. Arvid appeared as an extra in the Off-Broadway revival of Bertolt Brecht's 'The Caucasian Chalk Circle' starring Hollywood-legend Christopher Lloyd. He was the lead singer in rockbands like 'Van Gogh's Ear', 'ReStage' and 'Profiler' and as a tenor he performed choral works like Karl Jenkins' 'The Armed Man', Henry Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas' and Carlo Orff's 'Carmina Burana'.

Philippe Bernay

Rod
During the day, Philippe works in Marketing. His passion for musical theatre started in 2016 when he played the role of Jamie in the last 5 years. After this first experience, he was fortunate to join several productions of Happily Ever After. And he took part in Allegro, Cabaret (as the Emcee), Into the Woods (as the Baker), Working, Little Shop of Horrors (as Seymour) and lastly Ordinary Days (as Warren). He is thrilled to play Rod in Avenue Q.

Donovan Carroll

Brian
Donovan is originally from the US and has enjoyed performing in musicals since high school. He most recently played the role of the dentist in HEA's production of Little Shop of Horrors. When he's not singing and acting on stage, he can be found teaching mathematics at the International School of The Hague.

Anna Murton

Lucy the Slut / Ms Thistletwat
Anna is a Performing Arts teacher at an international school, a writer, director, clown and clown trainer. She is utterly thrilled, after a long, long hiatus, to be ‘treading the boards’ again in the dreamy role of Lucy the Slut in HEA’s production of Avenue Q. Anna is very excited and grateful to work with such a fun, friendly and talented company of artists.

Sophia Frayle

Bad Idea Bear
Born in Mexico, Sophia is a singer that started performing professionally from a very young age. Her past credits include Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar, Para la Libertad, Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia and Burlesque. When she moved to the Netherlands 8 years ago, her longing for getting back on stage kept growing, lucky for her, she found Happily Ever After productions and joined as Crystal on Little Shop of Horrors, most recently she played Cinderella on Disenchanted!. Nowadays Sophia is an AI Engineer by day and a cute little Bear with very innocent intentions on Avenue Q by night.

Sue Rajerison

Gary Coleman
Six years ago, this French funny girl moved to Amsterdam with the hope of resuming her artistic life back in the language of Shakespeare, since her return from Canada to little hometown Pau - France. Sue works as a product quality engineer in the daytime , and to get her life perfectly balanced between work and parental duties, she socializes and gets her dose of creativity through theater and musical improvisation. She also does stand-up comedy and comedy sketch writing when there are hours left in her mama allowance pocket. The show Avenue Q will be her debut in the "real" musical theater world - her shower cabin could not accomodate that much audience - and she feels blessed to do it with such talented cast!

Seisa Ito

Christmas Eve
Seisa is an Amsterdam based Japanese performer. Recent credits include Disenchanted! (Ensemble/Mulan understudy) and A Chorus Line (Val). She started performing only recently but her love for Broadway musicals started at the young age of 4, when she lived in New York with her family. Seisa truly loves performing and does not regret her decision to branch out into musical theater. She is a front-end developer by day, and training to be a performer by night. Her absolute favorites are singing and tap dancing! She also loves to swim, practice yoga, climb, eat, and travel. She's thrilled to be part of this show and looking forward to working with many musical theater enthusiasts & professionals for many many years to come!

Elyse O'Shaughnessey

Lucy the Slut
Elyse is currently the Artistic Director of OTC, owner of JEM Performing Arts, and HR manager at INCasting. Six years ago Elyse moved from New York City to the Netherlands. While in NYC, Elyse graduated from the American Musical Dramatic Academy (AMDA) and went on to become a casting director, producer, stage manager, and actress. Elyse most recently directed OTC’s production of The B Word in 2018 and OTC’s first musical The Last Five Years.

Jesse Finn

Nicky
Originally from New Zealand, Jesse moved to the Netherlands in 2019 with his husband to explore Europe - and although he's not managed to do much of that aforementioned exploring thanks to a certain pandemic, he's happy he moved nonetheless. Jesse writes and releases music with his NZ-based band Opal House and under his stage name Jesse Opal. He has appeared in a number of musicals including The Rocky Horror Show, Fame, Rock of Ages, RENT, Zanna Don't and most recently the debut production of the original musical The Bone Thief. Jesse is stoked to be joining his first HEA production, stepping in to understudy Nicky when Arvid gets mysteriously poisoned moments before opening night...

Peter Davies

Bad Idea Bear
Having trained in acting at RADA Peter swapped London for Amsterdam during the pandemic and temporarily switched screen acting for musical theatre to join the Happily Ever After Production Company with AvenueQ his first performance in the Netherlands. He loves this show and is looking forward to taking this super fun step in his journey towards hopefully fulfilling his dream of being in a feature film with the muppets.

Sara Watts

Kate Monster
Sara has been performing in musicals ever since she was a baby munchkin in The Wizard of Oz. Originally from California, she came to Amsterdam in 2017 and founded Happily Ever After Productions Amsterdam in 2019. Some of her favorite roles have been Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, The Witch in Into the Woods, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, Carrie in Carousel, and Nancy in Oliver. She spends most of her time directing but can't wait to get back on stage!
