HOMAGE TO RICHARD STRAUSS
Ariadne auf Naxos is one of the most beloved operas by Richard Strauss. offers everything that a good opera with its sophisticated orchestration, glossy vocal parts and different storylines. The first performance was on October 4, 1916 in Vienna. The Dutch Touring Opera presents 100 years later this opera as an homage to Richard Strauss. The artistic team is the same as the successful Touring Opera production The Barber of Seville in 2013.
DIRECTOR LAURENCE DALE
It is very good news that director Laurence Dale and set and costume designer Gary McCann will shape this production. They form a golden duo. They spent the Reisopera recently Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Madama Butterfly on the shelves, two productions are hailed as highlights of the season.
THE STORY
The richest man male from Vienna wants his guests after dinner a serious opera, a farce and a fireworks show voorschotelen. The evening walk out. But Ariadne god Bacchus and to the delight of Zerbinetta appears appears to give up her longing for death and surrender to love.
