After a successful run on Broadway as well as a national tour through the country, the high-flying, tony awards-winning hit musical PIPPIN is heading to Europe. Hailed by audiences and critics alike this "eye-popping, jaw-dropping extravaganza" opens in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on March 9 for a 5-weeks run through April 10. The European premiere is on March 10.
In Amsterdam Broadway star
Kyle Dean Massey (known from Wicked, Next to Normal and Nashville) and
Brian Flores (who's currently playing Pippin on tour) will alternate the leading role of Pippin. Besides these two, the cast comprises
Gabrielle McClinton,
John Rubinstein,
Adrienne Barbeau,
Sabrina Harper,
Erik Altemus, Bradley Stone and all current national tour cast members of PIPPIN.
PIPPIN is full of extraordinary acrobatics, wondrous magical feats and soaring songs from Wicked-composer Stephan Schwartz. It tells the story of a young prince on a death-defying journey to find meaning in his existence. Will he choose a happy but simple life? Or will he risk everything for a singular flash of glory. The production is directed by Tony winner
Diane Paulus (Hair, Porgy and Bess). It features sizzling choreography by
Chet Walker in the style of
Bob Fosse and circus creation of breathtaking acrobatics by
Gypsy Snider of the Montreal-based circus company Les 7 doigts de la main (also known as 7 Fingers).
