This week, Operadagen Rotterdam is the epicenter for contemporary opera and music theater for the thirteenth time. Operadagen Rotterdam is an important meeting place for professionals in opera and music theater from all over the world. From 22 to 25 May professionals follow the latest developments in their field in Rotterdam in a special programme, meeting fellow professionals, exchanging ideas and getting new inspiration. For the second time, the festival hosts a meeting of international network organisation Opera Europa. In addition, Operation Music Theater presents talents from Dutch soil to the international music industry with a special visitor program for Swiss theater makers in collaboration with Pro Helvetia this year. During the second GALA!, Operadagen Rotterdam awards prizes to innovative music theater makers.
Operadagen Rotterdam is a global opera and music theatre network encompassing professionals from around the world. A delegation from Opera Europa will attend for the second time since 2010 this year. The members of this international network of opera companies and festivals convene from 22 to 24 May to take part in conversations and presentations on the subject of Collaboration between smaller opera companies and large opera houses and festivals. They bring their own stakeholders to Operadagen Rotterdam to facilitate even more meetings and exchanges of information between people in the field. Bernard Foccroulle, director of the Aix-en-Provence festival, is one of the keynote speakers.
The second edition of the new festival feature GALA! takes place on Tuesday 22 May in Oude Luxor Theater. This festive night brings together music theatre from around the world while it puts the spotlight on extraordinary artists. The evening also sees the Operadagen Awards ceremony 2018, in recognition of special contributions to music theatre and opera. Wende, ARIAH LESTER (Lester Arias), Lisa Verbelen, Meral Polat, and Rosa Ensemble from the Dutch industry are being lauded in addition to Thom Luz (Switzerland) in the international field.
The seventh edition of Operation Music Theatre will take place on Thursday 24 May at Theater Rotterdam (location Rotterdamse Schouwburg). This is the network meeting in the Netherlands for all stakeholders in the field of music theatre both in the Netherlands and abroad. Here, music theatre makers can present their latest works and get acquainted with programmers and other makers from all over the world. The programme will allow for makers pitching their works as well as speed dates between makers and international programmers.Videos
