Review: KARIN BLOEMEN - SOUVENIRS at Zaantheater: take an exciting trip down memory lane... Image

Karin Bloemen is a living legend, known for her golden voice, diva dresses and larger-than-life characters.

Her new show Souvenirs is a trip down memory lane, trying to fight nostalgia on the one side and indulging in it on the other side.

Her rendition of Édith Piaf's 'Non, je ne regrette rien' perfectly captures this struggle, both in Dutch as in French. Wanting to hold on to memories may result in the incapability to throw stuff away. Karin has found a brilliant way to declutter, with a little help of the audience. Witty, quick, and just in great fun. La Bloemen is on top of her game when interacting with her audience members.

Together with the live band on stage (hooray!), Souvenir is a perfect mix of sketches and songs. Adele's hit song 'When we were young' in Karen's Dutch version was simply beautiful and well-chosen.

This show is for everybody who finds it hard to let go of whatever life throws at you. Leave it to La Bloemen to inspire you to take action...
