Five women – three sisters, a granddaughter, a sister-in-law – sort through the attic of their recently departed family matriarch, unearthing trials, tears, love, laughter, and the music of icons from Bessie Smith to Beyoncé. Sistas traces the history of black women and popular music, with songs including “Oh, Happy Day,” “Mama Said,” “I Will Survive,” “Single Ladies,” “I Am Not My Hair,” and many more.
