Nashville multi-hyphenate Trish Puryear Crist contends that some of the best conversations she's ever had have occurred with both friends and strangers while she's, um, doing her business, freshening up, checking out her make-up - whatever you want to call it - in the ladies' room. It might not make sense to men in her audience (after all, we usually conduct our business staring straight ahead, refusing to make eye contact and only talking when we have to in the men's room), but for Crist and her cast of some of Nashville's funniest, busiest and most accomplished actresses, it's fodder for a new play.
Opening Friday, April 9 - and continuing for nine performances through April 17 - Potty Talk is the latest play from Crist's fertile imagination. "A 'royal flush' of Nashville comediennes polish the nuggets of wisdom that women discuss in the ladies' room," is how Crist herself describes the play.
Featuring Laurel Baker, Robyn Berg, Jervon Dailey, Kellye Mitchell, Wesley Paine, Pat Rulon, Layne Sasser and Lisa Marie Wright, Potty Talk is presented by Rubarb Theatre Company at Darkhorse Theatre, 4610 Charlotte Avene in Nashville.
Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. for the April 9, 10, 14, 15, 16 and 17 shows, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday, April 11. Tickets are $12 and are available by calling (615) 397-7820 or you can email rhubarbnashville@gmail.com.
