Rehearsals are under way for the Nashville Children's Theatre production of The Diary of Anne Frank, the award-winning drama by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, opening January 19.

Tia Shearer stars in the title role, with other characters played by Evelyn Blythe, Rona Carter, Jamie Farmer-Oneida, Henry Haggard, Peter Vann, Samuel Whited, Holly Wooten and Bobby Wyckoff.

Based on Anne Frank's, The Diary of a Young Girl, this powerful play dramatizes Anne's years in hiding. Best for ages 9 and up, The Diary of Anne Frank tells the haunting, human story of an articulate, precocious young lady, coming of age in a world gone mad.

Public performances are set for Tuesday, January 19 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, January 23 at 2 p.m., to be followed by an After-words post-show event. Other public performances are Saturday, January 30 and 31 at 2 p.m. both days; and on Saturday, February 6, at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (with the Fresh Filmmakers Competition recognition, organized in conjunction with the Nashville Film Festival, following the 6:30 p.m. show). The final public performance will be held Sunday, February 7, at 2 p.m.
