The Frist Center Celebrates Its 9th Birthday 4/8

Frist Center for the Visual Arts holds its 9th Birthday Celebration and offers free admission for all visitors on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. 

Frist Center for the Visual Arts is located at 919 Broadway, Nashville

Visitors can make their own art at 21 interactive stations- printmaking, painting, drawing and more. Art making in the Grand Lobby: Foil Creatures in response to U-Ram Choe: New Urban Species. Visitors will be encouraged to shape aluminum foil to create botanical-influenced sculptures in response to the exhibition U-Ram Choe: New Urban Species. The exhibition is located in the Frist Center's Gordon Contemporary Artists Project Gallery.

Music in the Lobby

1:00-3:00 p.m. Joshua Payne
Get lost in the romantic yet earthy musical world of Joshua Payne. Mixing folk rhythms and jazz overtones, Payne's melodies move like familiar hymns and take you back to a time when music was elegant and life was simpler.
3:30-5:30 p.m. Sonicbids: Ben Graves & Brooke Sutton

With a mix of easy grooves and smooth roots-rock sensibility, Ben Graves and Brooke Sutton infuse listeners with a touch of jazz and pulsing melodies that put a smile on your face and a memory in your soul.

6:00-8:00 p.m. The Tree Ring Review
The Tree Ring Review is a dynamic collaboration of three of Nashville's brightest newcomers in the world of American roots music. The mix includes: multi-talented instrumentalist Bryan Clark's eclectic folk and Americana styling; country and bluegrass songstress Donna Romanello; and the sultry duo, Ronny & Sarah.
