Tennessee Repertory Theatre will partner with the Nashville Scene for a special event to kick-off its 2011-12 season of live, professional theatre. The evening - titled Nashville Scenes - will feature staged readings of scenes from Tennessee Rep's upcoming season and heavy hors d'oeuvres and will be held Friday, August 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at TPAC's Andrew Johnson Theater (505 Deaderick Street).
"Our previous Nashville Scenes kick-off events were so much fun, that the event was something Tennessee Rep wanted to continue annually," says Tennessee Rep producing artistic director René D. Copeland. "It is great way for us to connect with the community, and we're really looking forward to launching our season with a party that will share a little taste of upcoming productions with folks who support Tennessee Rep and enjoy live theatre."
Tennessee Rep's 2011-12 season features the following:
· Arthur Miller's All My Sons
· The Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris
· A Christmas Story adapted by Phillip Grecian based on the motion picture by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown, and Bob Clark
· David Alford's Christmas Down Home featuring Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory"
· God of Carnage written by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton
· Superior Donuts by Tracy Letts
· Little Shop of Horrors, music and lyrics by Alan Menken, book by Howard Ashman
