Laura Thomas Sonn and Ciaran McCarthy lead the cast as Luisa and Matt, the star-crossed lovers in Boiler Room Theatre's production of The Fantasticks, opening Friday, March 19 and running through Saturday, April 17, at the theatre located in The Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Road, Building Six. The Fantasticks, with music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones, has been enchanting audiences around the world since it first debuted Off-Broadway in 1960 - and is the longest-running production of any kind in the world. The story is a timeless fable of love that manages to be nostalgic and universal at the same time, with its moving tale of young lovers who become disillusioned, only to discover a more mature, meaningful love is punctuated by a bountiful series of catchy, memorable songs, many of which have become standards, including "Try to Remember," "They Were You," "Soon It's Gonna Rain" and "I Can See It."
Continuing the company's 10th anniversary season, The Fantasticks is directed by Sondra Morton, with musical direction by Jamey Green. In addition to Sevier, McCarthy and Sonn, the cast also includes Lane Wright, Phil Perry, John Davidson, Dan Ziegler and Lauri Gregoire.
Curtain is at 8 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, with some select Thursday evening performances, also at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday night curtain is at 8 p.m., with one matinee set for Sunday, April 11, at 2 p.m.
