Unseasonably warm weather in Middle Tennessee has ushered in the threat of severe storms and tornadic activity in the Nashville area today, March 2, forcing many theater companies to cancel performances originally scheduled for tonight. But the show will go on for Boiler Room Theatre's Xanadu, Gaslight Dinner Theatre's Babes in Hollywood and Studio Tenn's The Miracle Worker.

Opening night of Circle Players’ production of Brighton Beach Memoirs, slated for tonight at The Keeton Theatre in Donelson, has been canceled, according to company media spokesperson Regine McClain. Patrons with tickets for tonight’s show should call (615) 332-7529 to reschedule.

Lakewood Theatre Company in Old Hickory will also be dark tonight “due to potentially hazardous weather conditions.” Tonight’s performance of Columbo: Prescription Murder has been called off …due to potentially hazardous conditions.”

“Our Saturday, March 3, show at 7:30 p.m. and the last performance on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. will go on as scheduled. Your TicketsNashville or phone reservation for tonight may be switched over to Saturday or Sunday by calling the Box Office at (615) 847-0934. Thank you for understanding, and stay safe inside this evening,” read a statement from Lakewood.

Elvis Has Left The Building, the comedy currently onstage at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre, will also be dark tonight, according to Janie Chaffin, co-owner with her husband John of the company celebrating its 45th year in business. People holding reservations for tonight's show will have the option of rescheduling, she explained, and at press time she reported that most of tonight's guests already had been booked for other performances.

Cumberland County Playhouse, in Crossville, earlier today canceled performances of The Sound of Music and The Moving of Lilla Barton, both of which were scheduled today. While most of the severe weather has already moved through Nashville, Cumberland County still faces the threat of it.

Maryanna Clarke of Tennessee Women’s Theater Project has also announced the shuttering of tonight’s performance of The Disappearance of Janey Jones, the company’s latest production at the Z. Alexander Looby Theatre on Rosa Parks Boulevard.

“This evening's performance has been cancelled because of the continued threat of dangerous weather,” Clarke said. “We hope you will join us at another performance. Stay home! Stay safe!”

Studio Tenn, which is in its final weekend of performance of The Miracle Worker at The Franklin Theatre, has announced that its show will go on as planned tonight.

Babes in Hollywood: The Music of Garland and Rooney continues at the Gaslight Dinner Theatre at The Renaissance Center in Dickson and as of press time, the show was still set to go on, as was Boiler Room Theatre’s production of Xanadu, which also closes this weekend at the theater in The Factory at Franklin.
