Schermerhorn Symphony Center announces two new concerts: Mary Chapin Carpenter and Whoopi Goldberg to perform in 2014. Tickets to both of these just-announced concerts go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, November 8, available at NashvilleSymphony.org, at the Schermerhorn box office or at 615.687.6400.

Mary Chapin Carpenter with the Nashville Symphony

Wednesday, January 29, at 7:30 p.m.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter will join the Nashville Symphony on January 29, performing songs from her debut orchestral record, Songs From The Movie, which will be released on January 14 and will include new interpretations of 10 beloved songs, including "Between Here and Gone" and "Come On Come On." Over the course of her career, she has recorded 12 albums and has sold more than 13 million records. With hits like "Passionate Kisses" and "He Thinks He'll Keep Her," this five time GRAMMY winner speaks to the most personal and universal of life's experiences.

One of the funniest people ever to walk the planet, the amazing Whoopi Goldberg will share an evening of stories and laughter at the Schermerhorn. Currently a host on ABC's The View, she is one of very elite group of artists to have won a GRAMMY, Oscar, Golden Globe, Emmy and Tony award, and she's equally well-known for her efforts on behalf of children, the homeless, human rights, substance abuse and the battle against AIDS.
