SIDESHOW FRINGE Lines Up Wide Array of Emerging Talent for 9/29-10/2 Fest.

Actors Bridge Ensemble presents the very first Sideshow Fringe Festival: Music City's  Progressive Performing Arts Event produced by the inaugural Sideshow Ensemble, September 29-October 2, a four-day festival running in the Belmont/Hillsboro neighborhood.

Sideshow Fringe is a Nashville-based four-day performing arts extravaganza connecting innovative artists with adventurous audiences and showcasing Nashville's diverse talent. The festival will be housed in the Belmont Black Box Theatre, Bongo Java After Hours Theatre, Belmont University's Troutt Theatre, and on an outdoor stage on Compton Avenue sponsored by the Belmont-Hillsboro Neighborhood Association.

Some selections include:

--  Belmont Black Box: Company Rose Contemporary Dance's Serendipty 3 (as seen as part of the Frist Center's Warhol Live Exhibit)

--  Just South of Gihon a new musical about Bonnie and Clyde by Belmont honors student Chris Rayis

--  Staged reading of Writer's Stage new play Sugar Coated Pill by Jim Reyland, directed by Erin Randolph*

--  Aerial dance presented by FALL Aerial Dance Company

--  A world premiere dance piece inspired by the work of local nonprofit Magdelene written, choreographed and performed by Julianne Snape* with music by Rachel Harlow;  

--  Act Like a Grrrl 2011 an original performance piece created by the Grrrls of the Act Like a Grrrl Program

--  The Capital Exchange, a reading of plays produced at the D.C. Fringe Festival as part of a partnership with other fringe festivals led by Michael Redman*

--  A staged reading of Sideshow Ensemble's New Group authored play Craigslist

At Bongo After Hours:

--  Sideshow's Caffeinated Theatre Project * (a 48 hour play making festival in the style of the 48 Hour Film Festival) hosted by Belmont University playwriting professor, Jim Al-Shamma, Ricardo Puerta* and Hayley Rose

--  Late Night Comedy with Jessica Carter

--  Storytelling hosted by Vali Forrister

--  Act Like a Big Grrrl performing original, autobiographical works

--  Public Community art making with Myles MaillieOutside tent: (free) 

--  Singing Circle led by Annie Sellick

--  Fire Eating by Nathan Crandell

--  Singer/songwriter Mandy Cook;

--  Juggling Show featuring members of Playing By Air

--  Live accordion by Kara Reynolds

--  Integrative art performance piece - The Octopus Lament by Linsdey Bailey with original music by JinHwa Choi

--  Community Open Mic opportunities, Spoken Word performances

For Families:

--  Wild Goose Chase Puppet Theatre

--  Jason Michaels Magic Show

Performances will range in running time between ten and 90 minutes, encouraging audiences to see multiple shows in one day or to visit restaurants and merchants while strolling by street performances and hands-on art making.

Sideshow Festival VIP Passes are available now for $50 and include reserved, preferred seating to indoor events and admission to the VIP kick-off party on September 29 at the Neuhoff Site. The outdoor festival activities are FREE to the public. A la carte ticket options available at the door.

The Sideshow Fringe Festival kicks off on Thursday, September 29, at 8 p.m. with a VIP Artist Party at the Neuhoff site to celebrate and thank the diverse festival performers. The party features music by Justyna Kelley and Jessica Breanne and The Electric Heart as well as treats and libations. VIP festival passes include party entrance. Party tickets available to non-artists for $25.

Sideshow's inaugural season is led by three of Nashville theatre's emerging professionals: Jessika Malone, Jackie Johnson and Mitch Massaro. The ensemble includes Amanda Meador, Dustin Napier, Erin Randolph, Hayley Rose, Julianne Snape, Kat Hanrahan, Michael Redman and Ricardo Puerta.

Named as First Night's Outstanding Theater Company in 2011, Actors Bridge Ensemble is a professional theatre company and actor-training program celebrating over 15 years in Nashville. Our mission is to tell the stories that impact our community by producing provocative and socially relevant theatre, creating new theatrical works, showcasing emotionally authentic ensemble acting and fostering a nurturing environment where theatre artists at any stage in their development may train and assist in the production of professional theatre.
