As part of its 2012 "Street Corner Show" series, featuring shows that are returning by popular demand, Street Theatre Company is excited to bring back the two-woman comedic tour de force that is Parallel Lives, running Tuesday nights from tonight, May 22 through July 3 at Street Theatre.

Parallel Lives is based on the stand-up comedy of Obie Award winners, Kathy Najimy (Sister Act) and Mo Gaffney (That 70's Show, Mad About You). Throughout the course of the evening, two actresses - Holly Allen and Cathy Sanborn Street - embody nearly thirty different characters from Jersey teenagers to country western bar flies to celestial beings postulating whether the man or woman should be lucky enough to give birth.

After its initial run with STC in 2009, Allen and Street traveled to Wilmington, NC where they performed the show for one weekend to sold-out crowds and add-on performances. They then returned to Nashville for two more encore performances at Bongo Java. Of the Nashville production, one reviewer wrote: "Only the permanently humor-impaired would be unable to find a whole lot to laugh about - even cheer about - in this warmly produced and acted show. Allen and Street are both so likable and so completely fearless onstage that it lifts both the production and the audience to unexpected heights."

Producer Cathy Street says, "We had so many people ask to bring back Parallel Lives so we are excited to be able to make that happen. We hope to meet the demands of those people who wanted to experience this gut busting comedy again and share it for the first time with new audiences. It is also turning out to be sentimental, as well, because since putting the show on the season, director Lauren Shouse has received the honor of being accepted into Northwestern's prestigious MFA program in Directing, so we will get one more chance to work under her amazing leadership before she heads to Chicago."

Parallel Lives runs Tuesdays, May 22 through July 3, with tickets $18 for adults and $16 for students and seniors. To purchase tickets, visit www.streettheatrecompany.org. Performances are at Street Theatre, 1933 Elm Hill Pike, just off the Briley Parkway. For more information, call 615-554-7414.
