First Night Award winner Jenny Noel directs Everybody Loves Opal, the latest comedy onstage at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre. A comedy by John Patrick, Everybody Loves Opal runs June 16-July 23, and features a cast of some of Nashville's favorite actors.

In Patrick's script, Opal Kronkie (played here by Debbie Kraski, a middle-aged recluse, lives in a mansion at The Edge of the municipal dump. The general disarray of her establishment is aggravated by the fact that Opal collects things, anything that can be toted home in her little red wagon. Into her rather strange world come three outlaws on the lam from the authorities. The crooks decide that what Opal needs is plenty of insurance, a rapid demise, and three beneficiaries (themselves). The unsavory trio concoct several elaborate schemes to "do in" Opal, but each one backfires. Through it all, Opal radiates kindness, affection and an abiding faith in the goodness of human nature.

Noel, a native Nashvillian, has appeared in numerous shows at Chaffin's, and her directing credits include: The Comedy of Errors, The Odd Couple and On Golden Pond. In addition to acting and directing, Noel is the Upper School Theatre Teacher at Battle Ground Academy.

In addition to Kraski, the cast of Everybody Loves Opal includes Chris Bosen, Bryce Conner, Rosemary Fossee, Will Mayo and Lane Wright.

Everybody Loves Opal will be performed on the Chaffin's Barn mainstage Tuesday through Saturday evenings, with the buffet served from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with curtain at 8 p.m. Two senior matinees are scheduled for June 23 and 30 (the house opens at 11 a.m., with show at noon).
