In the upcoming concert version of Funny Girl, set for April 29-May 1 at Franklin's Boiler Room Theatre, director Scott Logsdon has cast 12 very different, very funny and somehow uniquely qualified women to take on the iconic role of Fanny Brice, first brought to national, then worldwide, acclaim by the inimitable Barbra Streisand. We're giving you a chance to get to know all of Nashville's Funny Fannys, one by one, starting with Alex Maddox...

What's your hometown, sugarfoot? Dothan, Alabama

What song do you sing in Funny Girl in Concert? "Who Are You Now?"

What are some of your favorite stage roles? I don't have a lot of Nashville stage roles to mention...most of my stage time in Nashville has been me performing my own music, but two of the theatrical roles that are favorites of mine here, would be my role as "Belle" in An American Country Christmas Carol...and "Woman with Issue of blood" (yes, that was the actual role name) in Bethel World Outreach Production of One Touch.

Who's your favorite funny girl? Not sure i have a favorite...a few I like are Tina Fey, Chelsea Handler, and Kristin Wiig.

Who's your favorite "Fanny" to work with? C'mon, be brutal, they can take it... I'm probably most excited to share the stage again with my good friend, Catherine Holder. She and I are the same age and went to the same college, but were only in one production together during those years. She was studying musical theater and I was studying vocal performance.

What's the funniest thing you've ever done (that you don't mind people from all over the world reading about on the interwebs)? Can it be funny and embarrassing? I was at the busiest gym in my hometown, at the busiest hour...hundreds of people around. I was finishing a valiant run on the treadmill...the last 30 seconds at a dead sprint. I lost my footing and went down, on my stomach, but for some reason decided it would be a good idea to hold on to the handrails while the treadmill belt was still circling...I was yelling for someone to please push the stop button until someone shouted back, "What are you doing?! Let go of the damn handrails."

What's your favorite funny movie? Probably Best in Show or Christmas Vacation.

What's your favorite TV show that makes you laugh? The British (original) Office and 30 Rock

What's your favorite funny play or musical? I don't know about favorite, but a funny play I like is Den of Thieves. Funny musical I like: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

- Funny Girl in Concert. Music and lyrics by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill. Book by Isobel Lennart. Directed by Scott Logsdon. Musical direction by Jamey Green. Choreographed by Laurie Gregoire.
