Sometimes it seems there is so much theater happening that it's difficult to keep track of it all. From personal experience, despite all the datebooks, smart phones, tablets, desktop computers and laptops...it's hard to keep everything straight in this wacky business of the show.

Thus, we are happy to present a new feature: The Nashville Theater Calendar, a comprehensive - maybe even exhaustive (lord knows we're exhausted from putting it together, gathering all the info from all over the interwebs!) - listing of theatrical openings for the 2015/16 season. We'll update the calendar every Monday, clearing out the shows that have closed and adding additional information on the shows still to come. Something's missing? That's an easy fix: just send us a message here, on Facebook, or by email at jeffreyellis37215@att.com.

Opened March 27

Cumberland County Playhouse, Crossville: Ring of Fire, running through June 7, www.ccplayhouse.com "This musical is one of love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, home and family. More than two dozen classic hits paint a musical portrait of The Man in Black that's a foot-stomping, crowd-pleasing salute to a uniquely American legend."

Opened April 24

Cumberland County Playhouse, Crossville: Singin' in the Rain, running through July 12 www.ccplayhouse.com "Singin' in the Rain is set in the Roaring Twenties when handsome, dashing Don Lockwood and his glamorous co-star Lina Lamont were the brightest stars in Hollywood. But times change, and 1927's advent of 'talking pictures' caused the crash of careers and fortunes, as audiences quickly lost interest."

Opened May 7

Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre, Nashville: Cliffhanger, running through June 7 www.dinnertheatre.com "Like its title implies, John Chaffin's Cliffhanger will have you guessing all the way through 'who done it'. What could be more idyllic than a cozy mountain lodge away from it all - and a murder to go with it! You see, the lodge is on the edge of a precipice called Devil's Drop, a 500-foot cliff, and somebody is lying dead at the bottom. Who is it? Who did it? Was it the lodge caretaker or his wife, a guest, or the looney fortuneteller. And then there are the ghosts that reportedly haunt the lodge. What could they have to do with it? Come test your crime solving skills."

Opened May 22

Cumberland County Playhouse, Crossville: Smoke on the Mountain, running through October 10 www.ccplayhouse.com Smoke takes place on a Saturday night in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina, and the Reverend Oglethorpe has invited the Sanders Family Singers to provide an uplifting evening of song. The audience becomes the congregation as two dozen traditional and original hymns weave together with stories of witness from family members, along with a healthy dose of laughter. Though the Sanders Family try to appear perfect in the eyes of a critical congregation - who are skeptical about the whole notion of a "Saturday Night Sing" - one thing after another goes awry and they reveal their true and hilariously imperfect natures. The honesty, humor (sometimes unintentional!) and faith of this Southern mountain family and the church's new preacher connect strongly with audiences of all ages and faiths, who find themselves part of a very special afternoon or evening.

Opened May 25

Roxy Regional Theatre, Clarksville: Bash, running through June 2 www.roxyregionaltheatre.org In Neil LaBute's trio of darkly brilliant, unblinking portraits of evil in everyday life, a woman tells of her complex and ultimately tragic relationship with her junior high school English teacher ("Medea Redux"), a Utah businessman confides in a stranger in a Las Vegas hotel room, confessing a most chilling crime ("Iphigenia In Orem"), and a young Mormon couple separately recounts the violent events of an anniversary weekend in New York City ("A Gaggle of Saints").

Opened May 29

Arts Center of Cannon County, Woodbury: Southern Fried Nuptials, running through June 13 www.artscenterofcc.com The charmingly funny Frye family is back and this time they are going to get married. Or maybe not? The engagement of Attie VanLeer and Harline Frye has been on-again, off-again more times than a drunken frat boy on a mechanical bull. Now half the town has been invited, the dress has been fitted, the flowers have been ordered and the gifts are piling up in the living room. Will they or won't they? You'll have to find out in this hysterical hit comedy from the authors of Southern Fried Funeral.

Hendersonville Performing Arts Company: The Giver, running through June 14 www.hpactn.com The Giver is Eric Coble's stage adaption of Lois Lowry's Newberry-Award-winning book. Since its release in the early 1990s, The Giver has been one of the most acclaimed - and controversial - children's books. Like its descendant The Hunger Games, The Giver is set in a futuristic society. Unlike The Hunger Games, the Giver's Community has no violence. Everyone has a mother, father and sibling, shares their feelings at regular meals, and is assigned appropriate job training upon reaching adolescence. No one has to worry, ever.

Roxy Regional Theatre, Clarksville: Disney's The Aristocats Kids, running through June 13 www.roxyregionaltheatre.org What's a cat to do? In this feline adventure based on the Disney film, Madame's jealous butler Edgar cat-naps Duchess and her Aristokittens and abandons them in the Parisian countryside. Luckily, Thomas O'Malley and his rag-tag bunch of alley cats come to their rescue! A jazzy, upbeat score includes the favorites "The Aristocats," "Scales and Arpeggios" and "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat."

Linda Sue Simmons

Opening June 4

Gaslight Dinner Theatre, Dickson: A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline, running through June 13 www.gaslightdinnertheatre.org Featuring Linda Sue Simmons (White Christmas; 9 to 5; Sound of Music; Hello Dolly; Honky Tonk Angels; Noises Off ) in the title role, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline is a tribute to her spirit and a celebration of the music of her life. Combining 'flashbacks' from WNIC's Little Big Man, played by Curtis LeMoine-Reed (The Andrews Brothers; Memphis; Legally Blond; Spamalot; Little Shop of Horrors), and visiting various venues from Patsy's climb to stardom, the show blends theatre, music and comedy into a magical evening for all audiences.

The Larry Keeton Theatre, Donelson/Nashville: Guys & Dolls, running through June 20 www.thelarrykeetontheatre.org Guys and Dolls was conceived by producers Cy Feuer and Ernest Martin. Weaving together the short stories "The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown", "Blood Pressure" and "Pick the Winner," these gentlemen began the process for what has been called the perfect musical. Using Damon Runyon's classics from the 20's and 30's they hired a crack team to musicalize and comically homogenize Runyon's work. With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, the result was a 1950 Broadway blockbuster. Still employing Runyon's style of mixing highly formal language with colloquial slang, Loesser, Swerling and Burrows, created a funny send up of the gangsters, gamblers, showgirls of New York City's underworld and nightclubs.

Jenny Norris-Light, Michael Maupins, Hallie Long and Brian Best

Opening June 5

ACT 1, Nashville, at Darkhorse Theatre: Dog See God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, running through June 13 www.act1online.com When CB's dog dies from rabies, CB begins to question the existence of an afterlife. His best friend is too burnt out to provide any coherent speculation; his sister has gone goth; his ex-girlfriend has recently been institutionalized; and his other friends are too inebriated to give him any sort of solace. But a chance meeting with an artistic kid, the target of this group's bullying, offers CB a peace of mind and sets in motion a friendship that will push teen angst to the very limits. Drug use, suicide, eating disorders, teen violence, rebellion and sexual identity collide and careen toward an ending that's both haunting and hopeful.

Pull Tight Players, Franklin: The Dixie Swim Club, running through June 20 www.pull-tight.com Each August, five Southern ladies leave the trappings and demands of their lives behind and convene at a beach cottage in the Outer Banks of North Carolina to recharge their strong bond. The Dixie Swim Club looks in on four of those weekends over a 33-year history, catching up with spunky Sheree, overachieving Dinah, pampered Lexie, self-deprecating Vernadette and sweet Jeri as they help keep each other afloat in the sometimes deep end of life's pool. Playwrights Jones, Hope and Wooten fill The Dixie Swim Club with some of their most complex characters in this funny and poignant cap to our season.

Street Theatre Company, Nashville, at Bailey Middle School: Dogfight, running through June 21 www.streettheatrecompany.org Written by talented young writers Ben Pasek, Justin Paul, and Peter Duchan, the hauntingly beautiful Dogfight won the Lucille Lortell award for Best Musical. Set in the 1960s at the start of the Vietnam War, Dogfight takes audiences on a romantic and heartbreaking theatrical journey. On the eve of their deployment, three young Marines set out for one final boys' night of debauchery, partying, and maybe a little trouble. But when Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress he enlists to win a cruel bet with his fellow recruits, she rewrites the rules of the game and teaches him the power of love and compassion. Studded with breathtakingly beautiful songs, an unexpected love affair, and genuine soul, it's no wonder this charming musical continues to wow audiences and critics alike.
