Frigid temperatures that have accompanied this week's ice and snow throughout the South continues to wreak havoc on performance schedules at Middle Tennessee theaters, with some companies already cancelling performances Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and even one Thursday night performance already shuttered.

  • After first cancelling Tuesday night's performance of The Whipping Man, Nashville Rep issued this statement in regard to tonight's performance (Wednesday, February 18): Again due to potentially hazardous weather conditions and concern for the safety of our patrons, tonight's performance of The Whipping Man has been cancelled. Patrons with tickets for this evening's show have the option to exchange to another performance. Please contact the Box Office at BoxOffice@TPAC.org to handle this exchange and a Box Office representative will respond as soon as weather conditions allow the Box Office to resume normal business hours. We apologize for any inconvenience.
  • THURSDAY UPDATE: While tonight's (February 18) performance of The Whipping Man is cancelled, the Thursday, February 19, performance will be running as scheduled at 6:30pm.
  • Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre today cancelled the Thursday performances (both matinee and evening) of I Take This Man, issuing this statement: "Chaffin's Barn will be CLOSED on Thursday, February 19, due to hazardous driving conditions around the Nashville area. We will keep you posted about Friday and Saturday. Thank you for understanding."
  • The Tennessee Performing Arts Center announces the cancellation of tonight's performance of the national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, previously scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Andrew Jackson Hall. TPAC had previously cancelled the Tuesday evening performance.

"We remain concerned about the inclement weather and the safety of our patrons, performers, and staff," said Kathleen O'Brien, TPAC president and chief executive officer. "We feel it's appropriate to cancel Wednesday evening's performance and provide resources for our customers to reschedule."

The cancellation of the Tuesday's performance included the cancellation of "Kid's Night on Broadway" activities that had been scheduled as well. "Kid's Night on Broadway" pricing will be honored at other performances.

For information on how to reschedule tickets to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, ticket holders and subscribers should contact the TPAC Box Office via email at BoxOffice@TPAC.org. TPAC staff will be contacting patrons throughout the day.

At press time, Studio Tenn's Thursday night opening of its musical tribute to Johnny Cash - The Cash Legacy - at The Factory in Franklin continues as scheduled, and the Actor's Bridge and Belmont University annual collaboration - Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler - continues its scheduled run at the Troutt Theatre on the Belmont campus.
