Nashville Rep's 2015-16 Season Announced

Nashville Repertory Theatre's 2015-16 season includes "a hot Pulitzer Prize-nominated contemporary play, a famous classic, the world premiere of a new play, and a great American musical," according to producing artistic director Rene Dunshee Copeland.

"While it's always a challenge to balance all the things that affect show selection," Copeland says, "I ultimately strive for a slate that is an interesting mix of styles and genres and which has good artistic variety for our audience while providing challenges that we at Nashville Rep get excited about as artists."

Nashville Repertory Theatre's 2015-16 season includes: Rapture, Blister, Burn by Gina Gionfriddo; Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead; Good Monsters by Nate Eppler; Chicago book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb; Holiday Special: A Christmas Story adapted by Phillip Grecian, based on the motion picture A Christmas Story by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown and Bob Clark.

Nashville Rep is a non-profit theatre bringing classic and contemporary theatre to Nashville that inspires empathy and prods intellectual and emotional engagement in audiences. All Nashville Rep performances will be held in Andrew Johnson Theatre at Tennessee Performing Arts Center, located at 505 Deaderick Street in downtown Nashville.

Rapture, Blister, Burn Previews: September 3-4, 2015 · Regular Run: September 5-19, 2015: As old friends Catherine and Gwen catch up after a decade apart, each woman envies the other's life and questions her own path. The New York Times calls this Pulitzer Prize-nominated play "intensely smart, immensely funny" as it explores the questions of a life not lived.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead Previews: October 8-9, 2015 · Regular Run: October 10-31, 2015: Known for their minor roles in Hamlet, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are a 17th century Laurel and Hardy, finding themselves continually befuddled by their circumstances and worried they may be interfering with fate. This play adds new meaning to Hamlet for Shakespeare lovers, but also creates genuinely comical moments that will entertain any audience member.

Good Monsters Previews: February 11-12, 2016 · Regular Run: February 13-27, 2016: Frank is a veteran and police officer who moonlights as a security guard. Safira was a shoplifter. Frank thought she had a gun. She didn't. While he awaits trial, Safira's ghost haunts Frank every night. When she begins to make terrifying demands of him, the fireworks of this macabre comedy really begin.

Chicago Previews: March 17-18, 2016 · Regular Run: March 19 - April 16, 2016: This Tony Award-winning sensation whisks you into the world of vaudeville where everyone is a performer and no one wants to share the spotlight.

A Christmas Story Preview: November 27, 2015 · Regular Run: November 28 - December 20, 2015: Nashville Rep's heartwarming production of this all-American holiday classic is the perfect addition to your family's holiday traditions.
