AUDITION CLINIC: COLLEGIATE AUDITIONS

A workshop for teenagers and young adults wanting to get themselves ready for college, grad school, regional, or cattle call auditions. It will help participants give their best audition in the toughest rooms. Actors all know what it feels like to be one of hundreds, but there are ways to stand out. If you connect to the piece and your audience no matter what the circumstance, then you can accomplish the one thing that will always get you noticed - you can make them feel something. This workshop will help you create an environment for yourself where you let your fears go and create that world for yourself and casting.

Do you need a new headshot? Here is a unique opportunity to get an affordable quality head shot. Each participant will have an individual sitting (20 min) with professional photographer Harry Butler and will leave the workshop with numerous classic, strong headshots on a simple background. Participants will have the opportunity to consult with Nashville Rep's Wardrobe Manger, June Kingsbury, and may bring more than one clothing choice for input from workshop instructors if they wish.
Participants must bring an empty USB drive with at least 4GB of available space and are required to bring their own wardrobe. With her aesthetic expertise, June Kingsbury will provide guidance and perspective as participants style their own hair and make-up. (Supplies not provided.)

This monologue workshop is designed solely for the preparation of audition material. It is for actors who are actively auditioning and in need of audition material.
The three areas covered will be:
· Choosing a monologue - how and where to find appropriate material that is well-suited to you, regarding your personal uniqueness and "castability".
· Working the monologue - a directorial approach to effectively mount and execute the choice to best demonstrate your skills.
· Auditioning with the monologue - a realistic understanding of the audition process, and mastery of the dynamics involved in presenting yourself in a variety of audition situations.
Learn to act just as truthfully off "nobody" as you can off of a live partner. This technique helps you lose self-consciousness and engage in the adventure of telling your story.

In this three part intensive workshop, Cheryl White will share the experience of a successful 20+ year career in front of the camera to help shorten the learning curve of auditioning for film and television.

Participants will gain practical experience by performing on-camera in a real world casting scenario that will include directional adjustments and feedback.
More and more film and television work is coming to the Southeast. With the increase in on-tape auditions, actors are competing with others across the country. This workshop is designed to help give participants an edge.

SCENE STUDY: IMPULSE & EXPLORATION

Students will apply lessons in technique and analysis to the preparation and exploration of scripted material. Scenes assigned by the instructor will be presented for critique, and then reworked to investigate feedback, allowing students to uncover and unpack tools to enrich spontaneity, believability, and effectiveness as an actor. Students will participate in a number of exercises utilized by top-tier training programs such as the Neighborhood Playhouse, the Juilliard School, and NYU's Tisch School of the Arts.
STAGE COMBAT: RAPIER 101

Taught by Nashville Rep's Playwright-in-Residence Nate Eppler, this workshop is specially tailored for Directors and Producers interested in presenting brand new plays and plays that are new to Nashville. Exciting new plays present exciting new challenges and this workshop provides Producers and Directors practical tools and tactics to successfully bring new plays to life on stage. This course covers best practices for collaborative artists engaged in new work, demystifies the development process, and provides strategies for presenting new plays to Nashville audiences. From small table readings to staged readings to workshops to fully staged productions, this course provides participants with a solid foundation to tackle the presentation of new plays in the community.

Brush up your monologue with Nashville Rep's Producing Artistic Director René Copeland. Whether you're readying new material for that big audition, or just looking to tune up another option for your repertoire, her advice and aesthetic guidance will prove invaluable to any actor. René will discuss the challenges and goals of the audition monologue and share insights on the audition process from the director's point of view. In this special session, each participant will bring a prepared 1-2 minute monologue and will receive individual feedback and coaching.
