Nashville Repertory Theatre will offer three in-depth acting workshops taught by theatre experts. Offering a workshop that broadens an actor's skill in a different way each month (April, May, June), the three workshops meet for three sessions each within a Scene Study format.
Workshops are open to participants age 16 and older and contain content accommodating both professional and amateur actors. Pricing is kept at a very reasonable rate to allow accessibility and encourage attendees to register for multiple workshops.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Modern Realism / Internal Approaches
Date: April 11, 18, 25 (meets for three Tuesdays)
Time: 6:30 - 9:30 pm

Students will be introduced to seminal ideas of Stanislavski and his apprentices Richard Boleslavsky and Maria Ouspenskaya. Students will utilize exercises and theories attributed to members of The Group Theatre, whose "American method" sprung from the teachings of Stanislavski's "system." Students will leave this class with additional tools and tricks in their grab bags of techniques, as well as potential interest towards further study and training.

Physical Theatre / External Approaches
Date: May 9, 23, 30 (meets for three Tuesdays)

This masterclass in creating a character from the outside in will explore physical approaches such as Elements, Alexander Technique, and more. Students will discover tools that can benefit every aspect of their craft - from auditioning to performing a role to practical applications outside of the performing arts.

Improvisation games, deconstructed stories, physical improv, music, and a terrifying - but purposeful! - lack of "rules" will culminate in a student-created work true to the individuals, the time, and the place. Actors, dancers, writers, musicians, directors, or anyone with the desire to journey into uncharted territory is encouraged to join this highly specialized and individually tailored course.
All workshops will be held at Nashville Public Television, located at 161 Rains Avenue in Nashville.
