Dance Theatre of Tennessee presents a mid-winter series of Nashville premieres - and invites audiences to the "hottest post-Valentine ticket in town," according to company artistic director Christopher Mohnani - in Aspects of Love, "a celebration of dance, music and love. Led by Mohnani, DTT presents an evening of premieres promising "an evening of wonderful dancing and choreography together with memorable and familiar music that will have you wanting for more."
Included on the program is Paquita, one of classical ballet's most beloved pieces. A favorite among ballet companies around the word, Paquita offers some of the best classical ballet dancing on stage, paired with Minkus' infectious music and personalized costumes from Tutus Divine. Other pieces in the evening include Nuts, a humorous look into young love and relationship. Two of You is described as "an intriguing look into at relationship issues."
Anchoring the program is Aspects of Love, described by Mohnani as "a delightful romp on the many facets of love and relationships, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, at times moving, at times exciting." With Michael Buble's music providing the underscoring, DTT presents the many highs and lows of relationships between individuals. Joining DTT for this celebration is Nashville's only contemporary and concert dance company, Found Movement Group.
The performing arm of Asian American Performing Arts Society (AAPAS), Dance Theatre of Tennessee is Middle Tennessee's newest force in dance and theater entertainment.
"Born out of a desire to blend the elegance and strength of world-class professional dancers with the budding creativity and energy of youth," according to Mohnani, DTT continues to offer cutting edge choreography while honoring time tested classics. "Aspects of Love will offer five premieres that will give every dance lover all they desire."
Performances will be presented on Saturday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 20, at 2 p.m. Harpeth Hall Auditorium, 3801 Hobbs Road. Each performance will be preceded by a pre-show discussion with the choreographers.
