Nashville Ballet presents the encore season of the acclaimed Nashville-based Nutcracker December 11-20, 2009. If you were one of the few people who missed last year's premiere, be sure to attend this year's production. This unforgettable classic remains one of the most popular of "must-do" holiday traditions in Nashville. With the Nashville Symphony, Tennessee Centennial setting, dazzling costumes, glittering sets, and brand-new choreography, audiences last year said it best... "Awe-inspiring no matter how old you are"... "It might just be the best present to give to your family this holiday season"... "What a fresh performance, so many ahhhhhh moments!"...."Exquisite from start to finish."

Nashville Ballet traditionally includes area dance students to be a part of Nutcracker magic and this year is no exception. Over 200 youth cast members will be dancing in this season's production. The coveted roles of Clara and Fritz will be danced by two casts who will alternate performances. The role of Clara will be danced by Elizabeth Graves and Anna Celeste Harrer, with Fritz being danced by Azro-Solar Akimoto and Brady Davis. "Being included in a professional production is such an honor and a privilege for these students. It gives them the experience of interacting with a professional company and experiencing the full spectrum of performing in front of thousands of people" states Artistic Director Paul Vasterling. Several youth cast members are coming from over 50 miles each way to for the opportunity to participate in this annual production: Julia Ridderhoof from Clarksville, TN, Russell Fernandez from Ft. Campbell, KY, Kasey and Gabi Broekema and Isabell Atella from Bowling Green, KY, Sarah Murray from Hartsville, TN and Callie Holloway from Sewanee, TN. Executive Director Andrea Dillenburg says, "It is so heartening to see the commitment that these parents, in fact, all of our parents, make in providing the opportunity for their child to dance with the best and achieve excellence. We're honored."
