Nashville visual artist Jeff Bertrand has partnered with East Side Story to create an exhibition of works inspired by local Nashville authors entitled Nashville Storytellers: Faces behind the Stories. The exhibition celebrating Nashville's literary scene through portraits of local authors will kick off with a reception today, October 12, 5-9 p.m. at East Side Story located at 1108 Woodland Street, Unit B, in East Nashville. This reception is free and open to the public.

Jeff Bertrand is a Nashville native and self-taught artist whose work has been displayed in Los Angela, Louisville, Ashville, and Charlotte over the years. His paintings are often raw and eerie portraits with splashes of color and he often uses vintage books as his canvas. A selection of Bertrand's works created using old books have been available at East Side Story since the all-local Nashville bookstore opened August 2012.

"Jeff Bertrand's paintings on books have been a huge hit at the store," says Chuck Beard, proprietor of East Side Story. "Hosting an exhibition of his work inspired by Nashville authors is a wonderful opportunity to showcase local authors while the national spotlight is on the southern literary scene during the Southern Festival of Books."

Nashville Storytellers: Faces behind the Stories will be on view indefinitely at East Side Story following the reception October 12.
