Following months of workshopping, John McDonald's stage adaptation of Booth Tarkington's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS is poised for its world premiere at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, March 25, at 8:00pm.

A spoiled child, a mother's death, the changing times and the loss of great wealth bring George Amberson his ultimate comeuppance in this timeless piece about the declining fortunes of a proud Midwestern family and the social changes brought by the automobile age.

The role of beautiful heiress Isabel Amberson Minafer brings the return of Maggie McCollester* to Clarksville. After appearing upon the Roxy Regional Theatre stage nearly seventeen years ago as Honey in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Curley's Wife in Of Mice and Men, McCollester has most recently enjoyed commercial success with roles in television on "Dexter" and "The Unit," as well as in a number of commercials and films, including Kissing Cousins.

Also featured in the professional company of THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS are Roxy veteran Jay Doolittle as Major Amberson, Jonathan Whitney as Jack Amberson, Zak Schneider as Eugene Morgan, Scott Watson as Wilbur Minafer, Leslie Greene as Fanny Minafer, Michael C. Brown, Michael Klug, Jackie Ostick and Emily Rourke.

Montgomery Central High School's Truman Jepson and Clarksville High School's Lauren Mund take on the roles of George Amberson Minafer and Lucy Morgan, understudied by Richview Middle's Jacob Johnson and Clarksville Academy's Georgia Smith. Richview Middle School's Tanner Sigears rounds out the cast as Georgie Amberson alongside Clarksville Academy's Riley Jenkins and Montgomery Central's Aidan Sartor.

The script, adapted for the stage and directed by John McDonald from the 1918 novel by Booth Tarkington and the 1942 film version by Orson Welles, was workshopped by Roxy Regional School of the Arts students Sidney McCarty (dramaturg), Jesse Boyle, Grace Davis, Allison Ferebee, Truman Jepson, Jacob Johnson, Lauren Mund, Madeline O'Connor, Tanner Sigears, Georgia Smith, Austin Stewart, Jewel Stewart and Amy Wyer.

Friday, March 25, is the theatre's traditional pay-what-you-can preview. All tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 7:30pm that evening for a $5 minimum donation.

THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS plays at 8:00pm on March 25, 26, April 1 and 2, with a 2:00pm matinee on Saturday, April 2.

Tickets are $20 (adults) and $15 (ages 13 and under) and may be purchased online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931) 645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain).

This production is made possible in part through the generous support of Jill T. Crow, Dr. Ernest & Joan DeWald, Sal & Andrea Herrera, Tracy Jackson, and Starlene Shackelford Sykes.
