TIME Magazine's #1 Show of the Year!, the Tony Award winning hit MATILDA THE MUSICAL will make its Nashville debut with a one-week run at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall on January 26-31, 2016.

Tickets go on sale Friday, October 30, at 10:00 a.m. CT at TPAC.org, by phone at 615-782-4040, and at the TPAC Box Office, 505 Deaderick Street, in downtown Nashville. For group tickets, please call 615-782-4060.

Winner of 50 international awards, including four Tony Awards, MATILDA THE MUSICAL is the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, MATILDA continues to thrill sold-out audiences of all ages on Broadway and in London's West End. The Wall Street Journal says, "The makers of MATILDA have done the impossible - triumphantly! It is smart, sweet, zany and stupendous fun."

"Despite her troubles at home and school, Matilda is a character who inspires us to stand up for ourselves and change our stories, even if means being a little bit naughty," said Kathleen O'Brien, TPAC's president and chief executive officer. "With clever use of staging and special effects, this smart and hilarious production features some of the most talented and raucous young performers you'll see on stage, and it's presented for the enjoyment of audiences of all ages."

MATILDA THE MUSICAL is directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage), who helms this production with a book by Tony Award-winning playwright Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Australian comedian, musician and composer Tim Minchin.

The production has sets and costumes by Tony Award winner Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Tony Award winner Hugh Vanstone, and sound by Simon Baker. The North American tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL is produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers.
