All good things must come to an end, and signature performances are no exception. After nine years of delivering countless "Bah Humbugs" upon the Roxy Regional Theatre stage, John McDonald will hang up his hat as the miserly businessman Ebenezer Scrooge with this year's production of Charles Dickens' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, opening tonight, December 9.

Under the direction of Tom Thayer, Dickens' classic tale of Christmases Past, Present and Future meets such holiday standards as "Deck the Halls," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "What Child Is This," "I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In" and more, performed to the music of acoustic instrumentalists Red River Breeze.

Featuring Kelley Barker, Leslie Greene, James Hansen, Lindsay Nantz, Matthew Smolko and Jon Whitney, along with a rotating cast of twenty-three local youth portraying the Cratchit children -- Emma Justice, Lauren Mund, Sidney McCarty and Madeline O'Connor as Martha; Magnus DoVanne, Jacob Johnson, Riley Jenkins and Stephen Adeleye as Peter; Ava DoVanne, Anna Ryan, Lillie Rich and Arden Allmon as Belinda; Aramae DoVanne, Andrew Patton, Kristin Ross and Michael Phillips as Tiny Tim; Georgia Smith, Kourtni Cottrell, Breanna Cox and Jesse Boyle as Little Miss; and Addison Drevlow, Olivia Casey and Peter Adeleye as the Street Urchin -- this rollicking musical morsel is sure to soften even the hardest of hearts with its story of redemption and rediscovery of the true meaning of the season.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL opens Wednesday, December 9, at 7:00pm for the theatre's traditional pay-what-you-can preview. All tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 6:30pm that evening for a $5 minimum donation. In addition, the Roxy will also be collecting new, unwrapped toys for disadvantaged children.

While the production will not officially open until the following week, patrons attending the Roxy's fifth annual "Christmas Over The Cumberland" on Friday, December 4, can enjoy a sneak preview. Prior to the performance of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, the evening features dinner at F&M Bank's Franklin Room, including pork tenderloin with fresh rosemary, russet mashed potatoes, sweet potato mash, country-style green beans, steamed zucchini and squash, and apple and cherry pie, complemented with Beachaven wines. Doors open at 6:00pm, and dinner is served at 6:30pm. Tickets are $50.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL plays December 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:00pm; December 11, 12 and 18 at 8:00pm; and December 12 and 19 at 2:00pm.

Tickets are $25 (adults) and $15 (ages 13 and under) and may be purchased online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931) 645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain). Active-duty military, APSU students and CitySaver coupon holders can receive two tickets for the price of one to Wednesday and Thursday performances.
