Jo Dee Messina to Perform in Nov 11-13 Nashville Symphony Pops Series

Due to illness, singer Jewel has been forced to cancel her November 11-13 appearance with the Nashville Symphony as part of the Bank of America Pops Series. The concert will go on as scheduled at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena, with country singer Jo Dee Messina joining the orchestra as special guest.

Messina's performance with the orchestra is well-timed, coming right on the heels of this week's CMA Awards broadcast. An electrifying live performer and one of country music's most distinctive voices, this multi-platinum-selling artist has enjoyed a remarkable run since her 1996 debut single, "Heads Carolina, Tails California."

Raised in Hollison, Massachusetts, she grew up listening to country music and by age 16 had a band that included her sister on bass and her brother on drums. Three years later, she loaded a car and headed to Nashville. After being signed and then dropped by one major label, Messina met and charmed a Curb Records executive backstage at Fan Fair and got a record deal on the spot. In the years since, she has scored nine No. 1 singles, three No. 1 albums, two GRAMMY® nominations, an ASCAP Song of the Year Award, and honors from the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. In 1999, she became the first female country artist to have three consecutive No. 1 singles from the same album.

Messina's latest release is a trio of EPs titled Unmistakable, which display both her songwriting prowess and her abilities as a co-producer. Individually subtitled Love, Drive and Inspiration, each of the EPs also includes live bonus tracks of her biggest hits. Her co-producers on Unmistakable include Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts and music industry veteran James Stroud.

Messina will perform with the Nashville Symphony and guest conductor Matt Catingub at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, and 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, November 12 and 13. Tickets are available at NashvilleSymphony.org or by calling the Nashville Symphony Box Office at 615.687.6400.
