Clarksville's oldest professional theatre is hitting it out of the park to close Season 36 of live entertainment on the corner of Franklin and First.
The home-run hit musical DAMN YANKEES opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, August 2, at 8:00pm. In keeping with the theatre's traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular price will go on sale at 7:30pm that evening for a $5 minimum donation.
America's favorite pastime takes centerstage in this Tony Award-winning musical based on the novel The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant by Douglass Wallop.
Featuring local attorney Stacy Turner reprising her role of Lola from the Roxy's original production, DAMN YANKEES stars Donald Groves as middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd, who trades his soul to the Devil (played by Ryan Bowie) for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees.
As young baseball sensation Joe Hardy (Quinten Patrick Busey), he transforms the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team -- only to realize the true worth of the life that he's left behind.
Directed and choreographed by Ryan Bowie, the cast also features Beth Kirby as Meg Boyd, Brian Best as Van Buren, Emily Rourke as Gloria Thorpe, Caitie L. Moss as Doris, Jackie Ostick as Sister, Preston Grover as Sohovik, Ian Alexander Erbe as Smokey and Riley McManus as Rocky, along with Sebastian Fenton, David Graham, Garrett Holt, Melody Lieberman, Emma Petrie, Mimi Sears and Race Smith.
