After much too long an absence, 2010 First Night Honoree A. Sean O'Connell finds herself in the director's chair again, this time helming the latest production from Nashville's GroundWorks Theatre - the regional premiere of Joel Drake Johnson's The Fall to Earth.
"Comedy equals tragedy plus time" in The Fall to Earth, as mom Fay (Wesley Paine) and daughter Rachel (Megan Murphy Chambers) are brought together for the first time in years to attend to tragic family business, and together with a well-meaning police officer (Heather Webber), must work through their own circumstances as well.
"[My husband] Bob [O'Connell, also a 2010 First Night Honoree] and I saw The Fall to Earth up at Steppenwolf in 2005 and fell in love," O'Connell explains. "Wesley Paine and Megan Murphy Chambers are cast as the mother/daughter pair with an amazing actress named Heather Webber."
"Wesley and Meg have been cast for over a year and Heather is spooky perfect for her part," O'Connell says. "I haven't been this excited about a show in a long time."
Originally premiering at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre, The Fall to Earth will be presented at Nashville's Darkhorse Theatre May 6-14. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students & seniors, and can be reserved by calling (615) 262-5485 or visiting www.groundworkstheatre.com.
