Gershwin One-Hour Concert Broadcasts 3/26 On PBS

Gershwin at One Symphony Place, a one-hour version of the Nashville Symphony's all-Gershwin gala concert from last September, will broadcast beginning March 26 on PBS stations across the U.S. Nashville Public Television (Channel 8) is scheduled to run the program at 9 p.m. (CDT) on Thursday, March 26. Gershwin will also be available in High Definition locally on NPT-HD (Comcast cable channel 240, Charter cable channel 708 and over-the-air with a digital tuner.)

As of today, 481 stations from New York to Los Angeles have signed up to air Gershwin from March 26 through the end of April, according to PBS. That represents nearly 70% of all PBS stations in the country. Some stations in larger markets plan to air the program multiple times, which raises the currently planned total number of showings to 975.

This First Tennessee Special Event concert featured the Nashville Symphony, Music Director Designate Giancarlo Guerrero and guest piano soloist Kevin Cole in Gershwin's best-known music. Presented nationally on PBS by NPT, the abridged program includes the Cuban Overture, An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue, as well as an eight-minute profile of the orchestra and Maestro Guerrero.

Gershwin at One Symphony Place reunites the team of Sunrise Entertainment and the Nashville Symphony that won a Midsouth Regional Emmy® Award for One Symphony Place: A World Premiere Live from Music City, the broadcast of the grand opening of Schermerhorn Symphony Center in September 2006.
