Gadabout Theater Company will present the Nashville premiere of Nick Jones' subversive comedy Trevor - directed by Henry Haggard - at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, October 11 and 12, at The East Room, 2412 Gallatin Avenue.

"Our goal to bring unique, left-of-center plays to the Nashville area that have never been performed here before," said Stephanie Houghton, founder of Gadabout Theater Company. "Trevor is a truly unique work with a quirky sensibility that's surprisingly touching in places. We hope Nashville theatergoers will take a chance on experiencing something they're never seen here before."

Inspired by true events, Trevor is a story about fame, success and the lies we tell ourselves in order to keep people from taking away an erratic, 200-pound chimpanzee. At the center of this hilarious and heart-wrenching play are two individuals fighting against a world unable to understand their love: Trevor, a chimpanzee who once performed in commercials with the likes of Morgan Fairchild, and his owner, Sandra, who swears he would never hurt a fly - at least not on purpose. The show is a moving exploration of family, flawed communication and finding humanity in unexpected places.

Trevor is written by Nick Jones, a performer and writer for theater, television and film, perhaps best known as a writer and co-producer for the critically acclaimed Netflix series Orange is the New Black and GLOW.

Haggard's cast features both new and veteran actors, including Kaul Bluestone, Ross Hamilton, Stephanie Houghton, Josh Inocalla, Lauren Sauer, Jim Seward and Daniel Swinney.
