Female-focused Shows On Tap for Studio Tenn's Upcoming Tenth Season

"Celebrating a season of unforgettable women," Studio Tenn commemorates its tenth season with the announcement of the 2019-20 slate of shows that will honor female artists and entertainers who have shaped the industry.

The line-up for the company's 2019-2020 season includess:

Mamma Mia, August 16 - September 8: Music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus; book by Catherine Johnson; originally conceived by Judy Crayer

Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, December 6 - 29: Music by Richard Rodgers; lyrics and original book by Oscar Hammerstein II; new book by Douglas Carter Beane

Steel Magnolias, February 7 - 16: The Southern-born and bred comedy/drama is written by Robert Harling

Studio Tenn Legacy Series, March 26 - 29

9 to 5: The Musical, May 8 - 25: music and lyrics by Dolly Parton; book by Patricia Resnick; originally produced by Robert Greenblatt

Kicking off 2020, Studio Tenn is bringing back the quintessential southern classic, Steel Magnolias, Robert Harling's beloved play about the hope, healing and humor possible in the midst of heartache. Surround yourself with these Louisiana ladies in Truvy's neighborhood salon as they bond through beauty shop gossip, laughter, loss and love. Steel Magnolias is a production that promises each delicate-but-strong character the close-up she deserves-and each audience member a fully immersive, emotional experience.

The seventh installment of the Studio Tenn Legacy Series will hit the stage at the Franklin Theater, with hit after hit from an immense repertoire of music, the Studio Tenn Legacy Series will bring an eclectic variety of best-selling music and medleys from the industry's most beloved artists. The announcement of who this year's Legacy show will honor is forthcoming.

9 to 5: The Musical takes the Jamison Theater stage this season as the 19/20 season finale. Based on the 1980 hit movie starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Dolly Parton, 9 to 5: The Musical follows three coworkers who are pushed to the boiling point by the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocrite they call their boss. Three unlikely friends learn there is nothing they can't do, even in a man's world, in this hilarious, outrageous, thought-provoking story of friendship and revenge.

Performances in the 2019-2020 season will be held at Jamison Theater and the historic Franklin Theater. Ticket prices at Jamison Theatre range from $35-90, with a 15% discount on any four-show package and 20 percent discount on a five-show package.
