The Boiler Room Theatre (BRT), Williamson County's original and longest-running professional theatre company opens its 14th season with the Tennessee premiere of BONNIE AND CLYDE the Musical running today, June 5th, 6th and 7th at Liberty Hall at The Factory at Franklin. BONNIE AND CLYDE is a thrilling and sexy musical with a non-traditional score, combining blues, gospel and rockabilly music.
The edge-of-your-seat musical about the real life story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow is subtitled "America's Most Wanted Musical," the riveting tale takes place during the Great Depression. It follows the criminal duo as they long for a life of adventure outside of rural America, eventually becoming the nation's most notorious outlaws of their time. The musical focuses on the relationship of the ill-fated Texas couple who find themselves racing to the top of the Public Enemies list.
Director Corbin Green says, "The excitement and interest in Bonnie and Clyde is as alive today as it was in the 1930s as evidenced by the popularity of a mini-series, several documentaries and films. This is an exciting show and a great opportunity to delve into the lives and history of two of the country's most infamous criminals. We are excited to open our 14th season with such a powerful musical that is appearing in this area for the first time."
A talk back with James Knight, author of "Bonnie and Clyde, A Twenty-First Century Update" will be available on select nights of the production. Knight has been credited with bringing a new level of humanity to this often distorted tale. Knight's in-depth understanding and research of Bonnie & Clyde will bring a unique perspective to the BRT production. The talk backs will be an added plus for anyone interested in the true story of Bonnie and Clyde.
