Amun Ra Theatre will hold auditions for its 2010 season, which will include the company's fifth annual production of Langston Hughes' Black Nativity and all of the plays to be presented in the soon-to-be-announced 2010 season, featuring two world premiere dramas and several local premieres.
Auditions will be held on Sunday, November 15, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the ART Playhouse, 2508 Clifton Avenue, Nashville. To reserve an audition slot, actors are asked to contact ART at (615) 329-iACT (4228) between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
ART is seeking "gifted actors and actresses of all ages and backgrouns for six phenomenal productions throughout 2010," said Kea Everett, director of media relations for the company. "Selected actors must be committed to all rehearsals and performances. Specific dates for 2010 shows will be announced within the next few weeks."
Auditioning actors should prepare one dramatic monologue showing their emotional range, and are asked to bring a copy of their acting resume, as well as one 8x10 headshot. Singers, in addition to the monologue, should prepare one song that showcases their best vcal range. Please bring accompaniment music on either a compact disc or ipod that can be plugged into the sound system.
Rehearsals are held three to five evenings per week leading up to the production dates. As production nears opening, weekend rehearsals will be required.
Most performances run Thursday through Sunday in the black box theater at the ART Playhouse. Other locations may be used, depending upon the production.
There is no pay for actors in the productions. "Amun Ra Theatre is a professional, not-for-profit, performing arts ensemble, seeking serious actors who are ready to immerse themselves in a professional environment with active, professional directors and technicians," Everett explained.
