In 1658, Mazarin, cardinal of his State, Prime Minister of the Regent Anne of Austria, reigns over the Kingdom of France. Knowing suffering from an incurable disease, Mazarin completes the education of his godson of Louis XIV. Through diplomatic cunning, he negotiated a Treaty of peace with Spain in exchange for the marriage of the young Louis with the Infanta Marie-Thérèse. But the future King is in love of the niece of the cardinal, the young Marie Mancini. We are suddenly witnesses of all the power games of Mazarin, Colbert to finance, and the Regent. Each is in his best interest and scheming about getting there. But despite his young age, Louis learned well from his master. He will leave to manipulate easily.
A disturbing lesson that outlines the needs and obligations of the political process where the personal wishes of the mighty of this world are very often to the detriment and forgotten by the people.
