Sick of seducing, of appeasing and pleasing, these ungendered fantastical limp-wristed fairies dream of a new realm at the edge of reality, sans the enormity of normality. Adrift towards this undefined destiny, their vibrating bodies and voices assert their aspirations to the point of flouting their faith. Paying homage to the traditions of musicals and camp, Fé·e·s sans foi is a queer dance musical. Both through its hybrid form and subject matter, Fé·e·s sans foi invites us to rethink conventions and release norms so we can open a universe in which fairies have the right to exist. Simon Renaud and Georges-Nicolas Tremblay encounter each other with tenderness. They become characters in a musical, blurring their identities, growing closer, an intimacy of consent that forms at the margins. With eight original songs written by Georges-Nicolas, and composed by Tristan Alantar and Romain Camiolo, this show searches for contours of identity within the nebulous Francophone queer culture. It asks, if we were fairies, could we finally live our own tale?
Georges-Nicolas Tremblay. Self-taught in dance, Georges-Nicolas Tremblay was trained in visual arts and theatre. In addition to his own creations, he has choreographed for theatre, operettas, musicals and music videos. He sees the integration of song and dance as a way to deepen his passion for musicals and as part of his personal journey of queer affirmation. He favours collaboration as a means of de-hierarchizing and queering art. As a performer, he has a career spanning more than twenty years and has danced, among others, for Sylvain Émard, Van Grim of Corps Secrets, Cas Public, Bouge de là, Le Radeau. He is also an artistic advisor, playwright, pedagogue and frequently does dance mediation. Since 2021, he has been the co-artistic director of Corpuscule Danse, an inclusive dance company, and works with Danse Cité in dance audio description for people who are blind or amblyopic.
