The Actors' Fund is pleased to announce that Western Canada Theatre's benefit performance of A Christmas Carol raised $2,837 to support the Fund's mission of assisting Canadian culture workers in crisis.
"I'm thrilled that Western Canada Theatre was once again able to support the Actors' Fund in a meaningful way" said General Manager, Lori Marchand. "Working in theatre often means being financially vulnerable. Everybody knows that the same factors that make the Fund necessary could affect any of us at any time. By holding an annual benefit we know that we are doing our part to strengthen an important safety net that provides security to everybody working in this field."The Actors' Fund is the lifeline for Canada's entertainment industry. Performers and people working behind the scenes in film and television, theatre, music and dance can apply for emergency financial aid from the Fund, which disburses over $500,000 a year in assistance. The Fund has helped over 10,000 entertainment industry workers recover from illness, injury or other circumstances causing severe economic and personal hardship since it was founded in 1958. It receives no major government funding and is wholly sustained by support from individuals and entertainment industry organizations.Videos
