Following its record-breaking Montreal premiere of LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL in February 2013, seen by over 1000 Montrealers and their performance in June 2013 of the classic, award-winning musical GYPSY, WISTA (West Island Student Theatre Association) is bringing the hilarious musical satire, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING to the West Island of Montreal.
A satire of big business and all it holds sacred, the musical follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a little handbook called "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive, while tackling such familiar but potent dangers as the aggressively compliant "company man," the office party, backstabbing co-workers, caffeine addiction and, of course, true love.
Winner of the 1962 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING melds wit, comedy, and romance together to perfection.
WISTA's 26 young and talented performers in this production all have one thing in common, a passion for musical theatre, which they look to combine with their studies in Montreal-area CEGEPs and universities.
"WISTA's talented performers, crew members and coaches have been putting on full-length musicals since 2011, a graduation from cabaret musicals, and the productions have quickly grown in scale and attract a wide Montreal fan base both young and old. Now in their 7th year, WISTA hopes to continue growing with every production they undertake, and continue to act as both an outlet for young talent and as high-caliber entertainment for Montreal audiences." , says Elizabeth Prévost, WISTA's President.
HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING will run over two weekends, January 31-February 1, and February 7-8, with an evening show at 8:00 PM on each night, as well as one matinée show on February 8 at 2:00 PM. The production will be housed at the Steve Murphy Theatre at Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School, 13800 boulevard Pierrefonds, Pierrefonds, QC.
