The Manitoba Theatre Centre is excited to turn the John Hirsch Theatre into a 1940s radio station for IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A RADIO PLAY from November 26 to December 19, with a preview performance on November 25.  Adapted by Philip Grecian, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE puts a new spin on the classic holiday film by Frank Capra.

Turn back the clock to 1947 with a visit to CMTC Studios in Winnipeg, where you'll take your place as part of a live studio audience for the radio presentation of the classic holiday favourite, It's a Wonderful Life.  Our cast of talented actors, the Red River Radio Players, will bring George Bailey's journey of self-discovery to captivating life, complete with sound effects created by our brilliant in-studio Foley artist, music by our gifted keyboardist and live commercials for some of your favourite local establishments. So come on down, join the fun and experience It's a Wonderful Life as never before.

Mike Shara reprises his role as Harvey Davis/George Bailey, for which he received rave reviews during the 2008 Canadian Stage Company production. He is joined onstage by a talented cast, including Mairi Babb, Lisa Anne Durupt, Matt Kippen, Kevin Klassen, Steven Ratzlaff, Christopher Sigurdson, Jan Skene, Robert G. Slade and Gordon Tanner. Foley artist John Gzowski and keyboardist Danny Carroll will join the cast onstage to create the sound effects and music for the production.

The creative team is led by Director Robb Paterson and features Set and Costume Designer Michael Gianfrancesco, Lighting Designer Scott Henderson, Composer and Music Director Danny Carroll, Sound Designer John Gzowski, Choreographer and Assistant Director Kimberley Rampersad, Apprentice Set and Costume Designer Jamie Plummer, Stage Manager Karyn Kumhyr, Assistant Stage Manager Melissa Novecosky, and Apprentice Stage Manager Ayden Buss.

Ticket prices for IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A RADIO PLAY range from $32.55 to $85.05, including GST. Students with valid high school ID receive 50% off single ticket adult prices for all performances. For showtimes and ticket info, call the MTC Box Office at 942-6537, toll free at 1-877-446-4500 or visit www.mtc.mb.ca. For artist bios, visit the IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A RADIO PLAY section of the MTC website.

MTC encourages patrons to "bring a tin for the bin!" Throughout the production of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, MTC will collect non-perishable food items for Winnipeg Harvest, and Peak of the Market will match the donations with fresh vegetables!

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A RADIO PLAY is generously sponsored in part by the Richardson Foundation. The media sponsors are the Winnipeg Free Press, CTV, Global and Golden West Radio.
