Due to popular demand, the Segal Centre is thrilled to announce that a week of performances have been added to Bad Jews by Joshua Harmon. The production directed by Lisa Rubin and starring Jamie Elman, Victoria Diamond, Sarah Segal-Lazar and Jake Goldsbie will run until May 29, 2016.
The highly anticipated production has been entertaining audiences in previews since this past Sunday and has sold over 88% of its run prior to its May 5th opening night.
"It is wonderful to see how the community has embraced the rich themes featured in the play. The lobby has been buzzing after every preview performance with audience members engaging in thoughtful discussions about what they've just seen. The characters resonate with audiences of all backgrounds and help us see the world from different perspectives, which is why I think this show has enjoyed such success internationally," says Segal Centre Artistic and Executive Director, Lisa Rubin.
This breakout hit follows three cousins as they gather in a cramped Manhattan apartment to mourn the death of their beloved grandfather. When a fight breaks out over a precious family heirloom, they learn there is much more at stake than who gets what. Bursting with crisp, fast-paced dialogue, Bad Jews is an exciting exploration of faith, family and legacy that is as thought-provoking and poignant as it is viciously funny. The play has been in such high demand that performances have been selling out before it has even opened.
The Segal has assembled a vibrant young cast featuring Montrealer Jamie Elman as Liam Haber, a hot-tempered intellectual, Victoria Diamond as Melody his "shiksa" girlfriend, Jake Goldsbie as Jonah Haber, his much more level-headed younger brother and Sarah Segal-Lazar as their more traditional and fiery cousin Daphna Feygenbaum. The incredible cast will be supported by an impressive creative team including Brian Dudkiewicz (Set and Costume Design), Itai Erdal (Lighting Design), and Dmitri Marine (Sound Design).
