The Massey Theatre is excited to present renowned Montreal artist Dulcinea Langfelder in her uplifting and inspiring work, Victoria, on Friday, Oct. 27th at 7:30pm and Sat. Oct. 28th at 2pm.
Dulcinea Langfelder is all at once an actor, dancer, mime and storyteller, while incorporating physical theatre, music, multi-media. In Victoria, as a wheelchair-bound 90 year-old suffering from the loss of memory, autonomy and just about everything else, Langfelder melds tragedy with humour.
Our heroine Victoria, has lost her memory; she's lost her pussycat, she's lost control over her life.... and her bladder. She has lost almost everything. Victoria is but a shadow of herself? A character who has forgotten her role, a puppet who adapts and adopts comic and dramatic situations as her imagination dictates. Her wheelchair is also her rocking chair, her prison, her tango partner and her flying chariot.
"Living isn't easy and neither is dying, but it is all interlaced with moments of great richness...little victories. Victoria savors every moment", stated Langfelder. "I was glad to find a bit of myself in her. I hope you will, too."
Langfelder is a rare artist who connects with the audience with the transposition between moments of the show and real life events - audiences identify. This play generates emotional and positive reactions, and leads to the improvement of relationships between elders and their caregivers, professionals or relatives. This theatre piece actively participates in the improvement of seniors' wellbeing. This is a not to be missed opportunity to see this masterpiece - now celebrating 18 yrs.
Interested people can inquire about opportunities to participate in the Community Health Initiatives being planned in conjunction with Victoria Project. Family caregivers and aging care professionals are offered a group rate. First responders, medial teams and caregivers are encouraged to experience Victoria.
