Edmonton's Fringe Theatre Adventures announced its 2010-2011 season this morning.
The season includes:
JACK AND THE BEANSTALK December 3 - 12, 2010 Adapted by Garner Butler & Jeff Unger Directed by Farren Timoteo, Music by Jeff Unger Westbury Theatre (TransAlta Arts Barns, 10330 - 83 Avenue, Edmonton, AB)
Jack lives on a fledgling bean farm and, to combat his boredom, he fills his day imagining adventures. One day on his way to market, he meets a mysterious merchant and is whisked away on an epic journey! Jack dangles from a monstrous beanstalk miles from the ground, discovers in an enormous castle beyond the clouds and befriends a Giant. When Jack steals the Giant's beautiful singing harp, the boy is faced with a difficult choice that tests his courage.
THE BARBER OF BARRHEAD February 17 - 26, 2011 Adapted and directed by Ann Hodges Westbury Theatre (TransAlta Arts Barns, 10330 - 83 Avenue, Edmonton, AB) A collaboration between Edmonton Opera and Fringe Theatre Adventures takes family fun from Seville, Spain to the Alberta Klondike for The Barber of Barrhead. Prospectors seek and lose their fortunes during the Gold Rush as Figaro, a barber and jack-of-all-trades, works to unite the young Al with his love Rosie, despite devious dealings by the dastardly innkeeper Bart.
LES PARFAITS INCONNUS April 8 - 17, 2011 Westbury Theatre (TransAlta Arts Barns, 10330 - 83 Avenue, Edmonton, AB) Les Parfaits Inconnus are a zany medley of circus acts, comedy and electrifying music! Armed with a bicycle, a table, a barrel, a board and a ladder, six eccentric characters meet on stage, each trying to outdo the other in a contest of increasingly outrageous antics.
