Bowser and Blue's sizzling hot love letter to Montreal's bygone days of bordellos, bad guys and booze is not an unrequited affair ... critics and audiences alike are head over heels!
Montrealers who haven't yet had the chance to see it or out-of-towners unacquainted with Montreal's notorious "wide open" past are in luck. Centaur Theatre announced today that the musical comedy smash LAST NIGHT AT THE GAYETY, has been extended until Sunday, May 22nd, the Victoria Day long weekend, a full additional week.
Spring has been slow to arrive and while the temperature's finally rising outside, things are getting pretty steamy inside too. It's been wonderful to meet audience members who remember the scintillating Lili St. Cyr and the Gayety Theatre, while others claim our show is the most fun history lesson ever. Our stellar cast and superb band really get the joint jumping," said Centaur's Artistic & Executive Director, Roy Surette.
Centaur Theatre's money man, General Manager Chuck Childs, couldn't be happier. "Hearing the box office phones ringing continuously is music to my ears," he said. "Not only is this show a really fun way to top off the season but a runaway hit puts a smile on my face all summer long!"
LAST NIGHT AT THE GAYETY has Book, Music and Lyrics by Rick Blue and George Bowser. Directed by Roy Surette, the show includes musical director Chris Barillaro and choreographer Jonathan Patterson.
Featuring: Daniel Brochu, Tamara Brown, Rosie Callaghan, Jonah Carson, Davide Chiazzese, Holly Gauthier-Frankel, Julia Juhas, Frayne McCarthy, Shannon T. McNally, and Michel Perron; Musicians: Parker Bert (Percussion), Mike De Masi (Bass), and Benjamin Kwong (Piano).
