Satire, gender identity and pop culture collide in "J'ai rasé mes jambes six fois and no sex happened" by Philippe Dandonneau, running November 21st to 25th 2016 at La Chapelle.
"Graduate of UQAM's dance department, Philippe Dandonneau has been tracing his path as a performer and choreographer for several years [...] Its rough gestural; physical, dynamic, sensual and explosive is inspired by popular culture to expose the failings of society. " - [translated from] Local Gestures, Sylvain Verstricht, 2015
Modern man is constantly redefining our aesthetic codes or tailoring to them to please the mass or trend of the times. J'ai rasé mes jambes six fois and no sex happened reflects the idea of this man in society and the codes that he must follow in order to fit into these old stereotypes. How should he act now?
The protagonists don female and male personae as well as physical traits to make a critical judgment about gender, label and sexuality expressed in the media.
J'ai rasé mes jambes six fois and no sex happened is a tribute to modern man with all its beauty, its strength, its ugliness, its weakness and its deep contradictions.
