The Segal Centre will present the widely popular comedy Noises Off by Michael Frayn. The shenanigans unfold both onstage and off in this classic play-within-a-play where lovers scheme, doors slam, clothes spontaneously fly off, and unbelievable hijinks ensue. The winner of multiple "Best Play" awards, Noises Off will be on the Segal stage for three weeks only, January 29 through February 19.

A Farcical Gem! Hailed by many as the funniest play ever written, Noises Off follows the adventures of an ambitious director and his ragtag group of actors as they valiantly (and vainly) attempt to stage a doomed production of the fictional play Nothing On. When love triangles, forgotten lines, slamming doors, and an inordinate amount of prop sardines turn backstage drama into onstage mayhem, can this motley crew manage to pull their act together to put on a show?

"I couldn't be more excited to be back at my favorite theatre in the city, directing the play I've been dreaming about directing since I was a teenager," exclaimed Director Jacob Tierney.

The Segal is thrilled to welcome back celebrated film and television Director Jacob Tierney (The Trotsky, Good Neighbours, and co-creator of Letterkenny). The native Montrealer directed the winner of the META (Montreal English Theatre Awards) for Outstanding Production Travesties by Tom Stoppard at the Segal in 2015. He will lead an all-star cast featuring Gemini award-winners Martha Burns (TV: Slings and Arrows, Due South, and Stratford's definitive Long Day's Journey into Night) and David Julian Hirsh (Weeds). Hirsh, a former Montrealer best known for his TV roles in Naked Josh, Lovebites, and St. Urbain's Horseman, will take on the role of Lloyd Dallas, the troupe's hapless director. Many familiar faces will grace the Segal stage with the return of Marcel Jeannin (The Secret Annex, The Graduate at the Segal and the film, Bon Cop, Bad Cop), Chala Hunter (Travesties at the Segal and Tarragon's Wormwood, and Titus Andronicus), Daniel Lillford (Glengarry Glen Ross, Travesties at the Segal and CBC's Trailer Park Boys), Amanda Lisman (Othello at the Segal and TV's Arrow, and Suits), and Andrew Shaver (Segal credits include being seen in The Seagull, and directing The Graduate and Sherlock Holmes). Rounding out this dynamic ensemble are Michael Musi (CBC's Kim's Convenience, and FXX's Man Seeking Woman) and Kaitlyn Riordan (CBS's Reign, and Stratford's Blithe Spirit and The Merchant of Venice).

The award-winning creative team from Travesties returns including, Pierre-Étienne Locas (Set Designer), Louise Bourret (Costume Designer), Nicolas Descôteaux (Lighting Designer), and Dmitri Marine (Head of Sound).

Of Noises Off, Artistic & Executive Director Lisa Rubin says: "I can't think of a better way to warm up during the winter months than with a side-splitting, hilarious comedy. Everyone should have an opportunity to see this beloved classic at least once; and to see it done under Jacob Tierney's leadership with this top notch cast is a thrilling opportunity for the Segal Centre and a real treat for our audience!"

Fun fact: The doors in Noises Off, slam shut a grand total of 360 times during the play. In addition, "sardines" is said 228 times!
